Position Overview:
The Senior Penetration Tester will be instrumental in assessing and enhancing our clients’ security posture. This role involves conducting thorough penetration tests, identifying vulnerabilities, and collaborating with teams to implement effective security measures. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of penetration testing methodologies, threat modeling, and risk assessment, with experience in the public sector to address unique security challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform comprehensive penetration tests on client systems, applications, and networks to identify security weaknesses.
- Develop detailed reports outlining vulnerabilities, risk assessments, and recommended remediation strategies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance security measures and integrate findings into broader security policies and practices.
- Conduct threat modeling and risk assessments to identify and prioritize potential security risks.
- Stay informed about emerging cybersecurity threats and testing methodologies to ensure the effectiveness of testing strategies.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning.
- Assist in incident response planning and execution, contributing to containment and recovery efforts as needed.
- Conduct training and awareness programs for clients to elevate their understanding of penetration testing outcomes and best practices.
Travel:
This job will require up to 40% travel, primarily within Georgia and Florida.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field; relevant certifications (OSCP, CEH, GPEN, etc.) are highly desirable.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in penetration testing and security assessment, with a focus on public sector organizations preferred.
- Strong knowledge of penetration testing frameworks (OWASP, NIST SP 800-115) and regulatory requirements (FISMA, HIPAA, etc.).
- Proficiency in various testing tools and technologies, including but not limited to Burp Suite, Metasploit, Nessus, and Wireshark.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience using reporting tools and developing client facing assessment reports.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a detail-oriented mindset.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of conveying complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
